Firstly, thank you to Martin and Serita from Unleashed for asking me to host their webinar on the Future of Work, a topic that as we stare increasing levels of automation in the face, is now more pertinent than ever.

During the presentation I delved into the future of the workplace, which thanks to COVID-19’s impact is now anywhere, even for jobs that we’ve always thought of as having to be anchored in a single, centralised physical location such as construction work and surgeries. And I also discussed how companies are building and embracing new Virtual Reality (VR) head offices, and how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now becoming increasingly embedded in the employee lifecycle – from hiring to firing and everything in between.

Against all this titanic change though, and rising above the noise generated by the automation of almost anything and everything, I then showed the audience how while on the one hand automation is a threat, it’s also arguably one of the greatest human opportunities we have ever seen as AI helps democratise access to expertise and skills and finally allow people’s abilities and achievements to match their imagination.

As entrepreneurs say, every problem and every threat is an opportunity, and hopefully after this presentation it is clear to everyone that we are now on the cusp of one of the greatest moments in human history.
